KUBUS CASSETTES started life in 1979 as part of the DIY post-punk underground scene of The Netherlands. Initially the label was the release channel for the music of founder ROB SMIT, but it didn't take long before tapes were released by other artists like Enno Velthuys, Rik van Boeckel and Muziekkamer. Kubus Cassettes was active until 1984, hibernated for 35 years, and was revived in 2019. In addition to its own releases, Kubus Cassettes distributes tapes released by other labels.
